Description

Line up books, plants and framed photos across five open shelves. Two box-style compartments with back panels alternate with open-backed tiers, so the wall shows through between them. The two side panels taper from the floor up, which gives the bookshelf its ladder-style look. It is particleboard in an oak-look melamine finish, and at 50 cm wide it suits a narrow wall.

Is the Scala bookshelf solid oak?

No. It is particleboard with an oak-look melamine finish, so the oak is the look of the surface rather than the material underneath. The top is 16 mm thick.

Does it stand against a wall?

Yes. The side panels are straight along the back and slope at the front, so the bookshelf stands flat to a wall and is deepest at the floor. It is not designed to stand out in the middle of a room.

How are the shelves laid out?

There are five open shelves. Two box-style compartments have back panels, and the tiers between them are open-backed, so the wall shows through. The bottom shelf has a low lip along the back.

Does it match the other Scala pieces?

Yes. The 60 cm Scala bookshelf with two drawers and the Scala study desk share its oak-look finish, 185 cm height and tapered side panels, so they line up along one wall.
