Each chair in this Leva pair is drawn as two mirrored halves. An arm rises from each front leg, curves back to form one half of the rounded backrest, then runs down behind the seat to the floor; the two halves meet along a centre seam, which gives the back its split shape and forms the two upholstered columns beneath the seat. Charcoal boucle covers the seat, backrest, arms and legs, and the seat and backrest are cushioned with foam over a plywood and iron frame. The seat is 48 cm high and 50 cm deep, and the pair also suits a lounge room or bedroom as occasional chairs.

Why is the backrest split down the middle?

Each chair is shaped as two mirrored halves. Every arm rises from a front leg, curves back to form half of the rounded backrest, then runs down behind the seat to the floor. The halves meet along a centre seam, which gives the back its split, two-part curve and forms the two upholstered columns you see beneath the seat.
